Please be advised that far too many of these types of exercise programs are so bloody excessive and over the top it's not true. They want to get your heart rate up to arrest level before you even begin. That's far too excessive. It's safer and more practical to start off slow and build up over time, because then you achieve sustainable and non-damaging improvement.

Common Causes of Decreased Mobility
If you suffer from any of the following conditions, then the Exercise in a Chair program will help you immensely!
  • Age - as we get older our mobility naturally reduces but it shouldn't stop
  • Arthritis - increase the suppleness of painful joints with these very gentle movements
  • Parkinson's Disease - help to reduce slowness of movement (bradykinesia) and muscles stiffness (rigidity)
  • Disuse - one of the main reasons we slow down and start to show signs of degeneration
  • Malnutrition - whether through poverty, illness or addiction, exercise can help the mind fight back
  • COPD - slow gentle exercise is one of the best ways to build greater air exchange
  • Depression - the best anti-depressant is movement and social engagement
  • Obesity - help to burn a few extra calories, decrease pain and increase flexibility
  • Cardiac issues - gentle exercise is best to aid recovery
  • Sports injuries which cause decreased mobility - helps early rehabilitation
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome - at the right time in recovery, gentle exercise helps build stamina
  • Hand injuries, conditions and fractures - can make us feel unsafe, but chair exercise helps recovery
  • Spinal fractures - good if you have to reduce movement during recovery
  • Wrist and forearm injuries and fractures - same as hand really
  • Ankle fractures or foot pain - can make us feel unsteady on our feet but chair exercise can aid rapid recovery
  • Hip replacement or injury - can be painful but again chair exercise is gentle and effective
  • Anxiety - There's nothing like anxiety and worry to cause you to slow down. Counteract that with movement
  • Bursa or muscle pain - causes dysfunction and postural adjustment. Gently turn this around with exercise
  • Joint pain - same as bursa and muscle pain really, but may involve greater damage to tough tissue
  • Knee or leg conditions and injury - rehabilitation of many leg conditions will come from gentle exercise
  • Spondylitis - a degenerative condition that is accelerated by lack of movement or painful movement
  • Stroke - recovery following a stroke can be remarkable using simple and gentle exercises
  • And a thousand other conditions and reasons why this is a good idea
